Favourite chocolate bars part one: Cadbury’s Freddo Frog
In finding this, I found this article about the ‘inventor of the Freddo bar’ who died.

they don’t have these here! (at least to my knowledge. someone might jump all over my back and tell me they do.) natalie sent me one of these from australia once and it was good! i use to get annoyed with everyone from other countries getting bitchy about their chocolate and how they prefer cadbury and how hershey’s tastes like wax, etc etc. but cadbury does taste better to me. they sell the cadbury chocolate bars and varieties in most stores so i always get them. i use to have one for lunch every day when i was in school in philly b/c there was a shop right there. i still like hershey’s, but cadbury is more chocolatey.

I feel so bad about Hershey’s chocolate. The first time I ever had it I was so utterly excited to try something so quintessentially american, and… it tasted (and smelled) like sick. Like, I’m not being melodramatic- it had the same kind of ‘is this… ok?’ smell as that pre-grated parmesan cheese stuff that looks like PedEgg harvest. I know other European people who’ve said the same, so it’s not just me.
I was sad. Even worse is that Cadbury’s chocolate in America is actually produced by Hershey’s and whilst it tastes less bad than regular hershey’s, it doesn’t taste like an english Cadbury’s chocolate bar. It’s like an evil twin. I think there are different regulations about what you can legally classify chocolate as, depending on how much cocoa butter and cocoa solids you use? Something like that. Anyway, long story short, American chocolate is horrid. :(
Joe I’ll send you some UK chocolate <3

I thought I was the only one that thought Hersey’s tastes like sick!! IT REALLY DOES. I am more of a caramel freddo man myself though.
